A renowned knowledge actor, Maya Ndubuigbo popularly called Papa Labista died after protracted illness. Report said he suffered from liver complications.
A great grandfather, Elder Maya, was known for his village chief priest roles in several nollywood movies.
He had been on medication for a quite a long time before finaly resting in the bosom of the Lord yesterday (Friday).
Even though the news of his demise infiltrated the social media on Firday, it was eventually confirmed in the early hours of Saturday by his son on Facebook.
One of the oldest Nigerian actors in this dispensation, Ndubuigbo nursed swollen legs that had left him bedridden for several months.
An appeal was made by one of the Nollywood actors, Ernest Obi sometime in May 2016 to Nigerians to assist in raising the sum of N1 million to offset Maya’s hospital bill.
“Today he is not playing a role in any movie to entertain as usual. He is fighting for his life. His liver. He needs you. Needs me. Needs us. Please help save Elder Maya aka Papa Labista.” Obi’s request stated in part.
A couple of months after the appeal was made, veteran actor, Bruno Iwuoha, announced that The Senior Pastor of Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa, Abuja, Joshua Iginla, had donated N1 million naira to save Njubuigbo.
