Photo: EFCC arraigns pastor for N22.4M fraud


Pastor Nimi West and his Organisation, Nimak & Company Nigeria Limited has been arraigned before Justice Agumoh U.N of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt, Rivers States by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a 4-count charge of obtaining money under false pretense to the tune of Twenty-Two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N22,400,000).

Pastor West is alleged to have received the said amount from one Emmanuel Dike at different times in 2013 for payment of a bungalow at D/Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. However, the complainant later realised that the property had been sold to another person while all efforts to recover his money proved abortive.

But the accussed pleaded not guilty when the charges were read.
Based on plea, the prosecution counsel, Okoli C.A applied for date of the commencement of the case while the defence counsel Osita C.B instituted an oral application for bail of the pastor to enable him attend to his health.
The prosecution Counsel Agumoh granted bail in the like sum of N1,000,000 and two sureties in the like sum with other conditions attached.
The case was adjourned to 17th and 18th January, 2017 for trial while the accused is to continue being in detention until he perfects his bail conditions.
