A clash between the Police and Shiites Islamic group in Kano Nigeria has left 1 people dead. Out of whom is a Police Officer and the remaining 10 are their members early yesterday.
The group which staged a religious protest demanding for the release of their leader where stopped by the police which aggravated the violence that eventually led to loss of lives.
As the Police throw teargas to disperse them, the retaliated and the situation became chaotic leading the death of some members and a police officer.
Yusuf Rabiu, the state commissioner of police said: “At about 8am on Monday, thousands of Shiites denied other motorists and other road users free access to Kano-Kaduna expressway between Kwanar Dawaki and Tamburawa village in Dawaki Kudi local government area. The Shiites also attacked innocent citizens, damaged police and personal property thereby causing mayhem which led to general disturbance of public peace in the state. We lost a officer while another sustained injury. Eight Shiites members were confirmed dead”
